This Morning: Guest speaks about her parent writing her out of his will

This Morning fans have taken to social media to complain about a guest just minutes into the broadcast. The ITV magazine programme returned on Tuesday (May 7) where the discussion turned to family feuds over money.

Following the recent bank holiday, presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley returned to This Morning to interview Jill Langley whose father had written her out of his will. During the segment, the woman revealed that her late dad had married in “secret” and that she fought for her right to inheritance.

“I didn’t find out he’d married until early March 2022 - just before we went into lockdown,” Jill explained. “I had a letter come through my door, ‘by the way, just to let you know your dad got married last year, he was actually married in June 2019’.

“It was a wedding I wasn’t informed of so we could call it a secret wedding,” she continued. Later on in the conversation, the woman revealed she’d eventually won the inheritance in a landmark case.

However, the detailed story has caused ITV viewers to threaten to “switch off”. They also queried why neither Ben, 49, nor Cat, 47 didn’t prompt the guest to cut to the chase.

One disgruntled viewer took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “Serious question - why's she on? Why does anyone care about her f****ng life story?!”

A second said: “This is more for one of those magazines you get in the doctors surgery.”

Another typed: “Christ Ben, move this story on. She's giving us f***ing directions between two places now.” A fourth wrote: “Not even watching and I fell asleep.”

“She’s not one for being succinct is she? #ThisMorning,” complained a fifth.

For those confused about the segment, another viewer took to social media to remind them: “This is all about inheritance #ThisMorning.”

Ben and Cat made their debut on the morning mainstay in March after replacing Holly Willoughby and her former co-host Phillip Schofield.

Prior to their appointment, the ITV show featured a revolving cast of presenters.

These included Alison Hammond, Sian Welby and Dermot O’Leary.

Tune into This Morning every weekday on ITV1 and ITVX from 10am.
