ITV The Chase fans confused over player's controversial remark to Bradley Walsh

As another episode of The Chase aired on ITV1 on Monday, viewers were left confused after a player made a controversial remark to host Bradley Walsh.

Eleanor from Manchester referred to herself as a "fleegan", which she revealed to be a flexible vegan, as a bewilered Bradley, 63, looked at her in confusion.

The presenter asked Eleanor what she likes to do for hobbies, to which she responded: "I like to cook for friends, so recently I've been trying to cook vegan."

He asked: "Are you vegan now," as she commented: "I try to be, a fleegan." A confused Bradley asked: "A fleegan, what a fleegan?," as Eleanor clarified: "A flexible vegan."

The Gladiators host held his head in his hands as he laughed off the comment as the studio audience also began laughing out loud at the remark.

Fans of the series were also left confused as they rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their opinions on the contestant's comment.

One X user commented: "I'm vegan apart from the milk in my coffee and my leather shoes," while another person penned: "So, not a vegan then, Eleanor #TheChase."

Somebody else expressed: "A flexible vegan. WTF #TheChase," while yet another said: "A flegan? A Flexible vegan?! #TheChase.A fifth ITV viewer said: "A flexible vegan = she'll bend over backwards for avocado on toast... #TheChase."

While a sixth added: "Part time vegetarian gets vegetarian question.. #thechase."

However, not everybody was judgemental about Eleanor's flexible veganism, as one person expressed: "Well done Eleanor #TheChase," after the contestant made it through to the next round.

Eleanor made it through to the final round with her three fellow contestants as they took on Paul Sinha for the cash prize.

But it wasn't meant to be as the four lost out with 15 seconds to spare, meaning they went home with nothing.

The Chase airs weekdays from 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
