Jeremy Clarkson slapped down by teacher as students make bizarre discovery on his farm

Jeremy Clarkson, the host of The Grand Tour and owner of a 1,000-acre working farm in Oxfordshire, has recounted an "alarming" encounter with a group of Duke of Edinburgh students on his property. In a column penned last year, the 63-year-old detailed how he discovered the youngsters making themselves at home in a field where he had just sown an "extremely expensive" turtle dove mix.

Despite being a fan of the programme, founded by Prince Philip in 1956, Clarkson was less than impressed with their use of his land. He recalled: "I found a gang of them sitting in my garden. Some were attempting to light a stove, some were moaning about the mobile phone signal, and one was heading for my hedge with some bog roll."

After offering his assistance - which he claims is "farmer-speak for 'get off my land'" - he was told by their supervisor that they had been instructed to have lunch in the garden of the largest house they could find.

Clarkson promptly informed them that they couldn't use his land as a toilet and directed them to the facilities on his farm.

Jeremy found himself in a frustrating situation when he was told by what seemed to be a supervisor, that he couldn't take one of these youngsters to the lavatory.

This was heightened by his revelation in The Sunday Times where he aired his annoyance, saying, "He summoned his 'I know my rights' adenoids to say that it was a public footpath, and I had to retort in my special menacing tone, explaining that you can't drive on a footpath or picnic on it, and that you sure as hell can't defecate on it."

As the call went on, Jeremy got word of another group. After assisting the girl who needed the toilet, he decided to investigate this second group.

On arrival though, he described "the scene was alarming".

Discussing the chaos in a humorous light, he joked, "It looked like some kind of juvenile scat movie was in full swing," as they were seen pushing used lavatory paper into the watering pipes for his new trees.

When he asked for their teacher, his frustration only amplified. He concluded: "It turned out he was in the village... while it's great that these kids are out in the fresh air, learning how to get around using nothing but abandoned teacher Peugeots as marker points, it doesn't really help them understand the land if there's no one around to tell them stuff."
