Channel 4 has reportedly put a halt to the filming of its popular comedy series, The Windsors, indefinitely due to the health concerns surrounding the Royal Family. This comes after King Charles III revealed his cancer diagnosis in February 2024, shocking the nation and leading him to postpone his public duties.
The exact nature of his illness remains undisclosed, but it's known that the 75-year-old monarch is undergoing regular treatments.
Adding to the Royal health woes, Princess Kate also shared a video revealing her own battle with cancer and her subsequent withdrawal from public appearances as she undergoes preventative chemotherapy.
This news came just months after Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer, following her treatment for breast cancer.
As of March 2024, there seems to be no further spread of her illness, although she has been advised to attend regular check-ups.
These revelations have led Channel 4 to pause production on its satirical sitcom, which King Charles himself has described as "cruel", for an indefinite period, reports the Mirror.
Private Eye reports that Ian Katz, the chief content officer at the broadcaster, has "quietly cancelled the fourth series", halting filming "until further notice" with no return date in sight.
Another idea was floated to focus the latest series "on the younger generations, with their majesties 'away on tour'".

However, the diagnoses of all three royals were deemed to make the monarchy "judged beyond a joke".
The satirical soap opera first aired in 2016 and is available on Netflix. It features Harry Enfield as King Charles and mocks various members of the Royal family.
The show's debut series was Channel 4's most successful comedy launch since 2014.
The third season aired in 2020, two years after a Royal wedding special celebrating Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, and was followed by a Coronation Special in April 2023 when Channel 4 commissioned the fourth series, which is now on hold.
However, tragedy struck the cast off-screen in October 2023 when Haydn Gwyne, who played Queen Camilla, passed away from cancer at the age of 66. Since then, there has been "talk of recasting" her role.
"It is with great sadness we are sharing with you that, following her recent diagnosis with cancer, the star of stage and screen Haydn Gwynne died in hospital in the small hours of Friday October 20, surrounded by her beloved sons, close family and friends", a statement from her representatives said. The death came as another hard blow for the show, which was set to continue despite the 2020 death of George Jeffrie, co-creator of the series.
