Imarn Ayton 'storms' off GB News

Anti-racism activist Imarn Ayton walked out of the GB News studio after a debate on whether the countryside is racist with a farmer named Gareth Wyn Jones.

Host Stephen Dixon told Imarn after she was scolded for talking over Gareth. He exclaimed: "I'll tell you what we like to do on this channel is listen to other people."

However, she replied: "OK. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave now, because I'm not going to let you speak on behalf of the whole entire channel.

"Yeah, I'm going to, don't worry about that. It's a shame that it couldn't have finished a bit more cordial, but it's clear where your alliances lie."

The activist added: "Thank you very much, Anne and Stephen, that was great." She carried on speaking off-set before Stephen said: "Unfortunately, your mic is off..."

Stephen answered: "Thanks for being here," before his co-host Anne Diamond swiped at the guest: "Well, you won't be back, I can tell you that."

Imran clapped back: "I definitely won't be Anne, thank you for making it dead clear as to how I was feeling."

The walk-off moment happened after a new report claimed ethnic minorities are reluctant to visit green spaces.

Anne shared: "Think about it, it sounds very woke just like that but maybe you've had experiences with something like that."

The veteran broadcaster then introduced the guests to the programme before a firey row soon kicked off on the topic.

The farmer was being interviewed via video link whereas Imran was sitting beside the co-hosts sharing her opinions first before he gave his views on the subject matter.

Imran said: "You can't speak on lived experiences of black people, so when you say there is no racism, that is from your perspective, with your lived-in experiences as a white man."

Greth sat there shaking his head as Imran continued to make her points before Stephen tried to mitigate the conversation.

"Let me get a word in," Stephen exclaimed. "No, no no..." Imran did apologise but he told her off for interrupting the other guest.

In parts of the debate, the hosts sat in shock as the guests continued to argue with one another about countryside "racism" claims.

Gareth told Imran she was "close-minded" and accused her of looking for the negatives as the Welsh farmer tried to voice his opinions before she ended up leaving the studio.
