Alison Moyet has shut down all speculation that she is on the current UK series of The Masked Singer. The star’s confession comes after fans speculated she was performing undercover as Eiffel Tower.
ITV’s premier celebrity gameshow returned for another round on Saturday evening with host Joel Dommett at the helm. Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan also came back to their judging roles alongside Rita Ora and guest judge Ellie Goulding.
The show’s climax resulted in Owl being unmasked as Scottish TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, who left the competition following Julia Sawalha’s expulsion last week. Prior to the former being unmasked as 64-year-old Lorraine, Alison, 62, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to deny that she was one of the celebrities performing.
She posted the reveal to her 210,200 followers and wrote: “Spoiler alert. I’m not any one of those singers that do stuff in masks on the telly competition. Never seen it. Never going to happen. All the best.”
“FYI This post wasn’t apropos nothing btw,” she typed in a further update. “Keep getting tagged in as a potential Wheel Hub or Service Hatch or wot (sic) not & so instead of grumbling to myself every Saturday I thought it would be better use of my time to just spoil the game for everybody else. So. Yea. Ya mentalists.”
Fans have since come out in their droves to debate Alison’s confession, with one saying: “Ha classic double bluff deffo on at least one of them I’m certain your (sic) on the masked gladiator wheel.”
A second commented: “So you're doing the masked dancer instead, then?”
“Absolutely no point - we’d spot that extraordinary voice a mile off,” replied a third.
Alison’s place on the show has been questioned by fans throughout January, with one viewer writing: “Alison Moyet is a great guess.”
Another said: “No idea who Eiffel Tower is but I swear I recognise the voice. Alison Moyet is potentially a great shout from the panel #maskedsingeruk #maskedsinger.”

A third typed: “One thing I love about the Masked Singer is that there’ll be someone who I’m CONVINCED is like Alison Moyet and I’m proper confident and then it turns out to be like someone from Loose Women, not even remotely accurate.”
Interestingly this isn’t the first time that the ‘Only You’ hitmaker has sparked rumours that she's signed up to The Masked Singer.
Back in 2021, many believed that the ‘Only You’ hitmaker was masquerading as Harlequin.
However, it was later revealed that it was Gabrielle was underneath the costume.
The Masked Singer returns to ITV1 next Saturday at 6.25pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
