Beat the Chasers: Nish Kumar wins £25,000

The Chase spin-off Beat The Chasers was forced to a halt following an argument when one of the quiz pros "kicked off" during the ITV show. Comedian Dom Joly appeared on an episode of the show and ended up taking home £50K for charity after taking on all five chasers.

However The Beast, real name Mark Labbett, was left fuming and stopped the show so the decision could be looked back on. Dom, 56, told the Daily Star: "I always win those, I love doing quizzes, I travel a lot and read a lot, I'm not stupid.

"I don't know whether they dumb down the questions with celeb versions, they say they don't... But what I really liked about beating the chasers was how angry they got. You kind of think 'Do they give a s***?

"It's not their money they're handing over'. It certainly wasn't my money either, it was going to charity." The comedian went on to explain that the show had to be stopped after The Beast challenged an answer.

He continued: "They started arguing and they actually had to stop the show. And The Beast challenged something and wanted to rethink and in the end, he lost the judgment and then they stopped the clock again. I kind of loved that."

Viewers previously complained about the questions being "too easy" for the celebrities after comedian and actor Nish Kumar beat the chasers and walked away with £25,000.

He managed to beat the panel - comprising of Mark, Darragh Ennis, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, and Jenny Ryan - to win the huge cash prize.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer said: "When the contestant gets questions like "What's the main ingredient of Heinz Ketchup?" of course they're gonna win lol #BeatTheChasers." (sic)

Another expressed: "Tomato soup coal f****** easy questions #BeatTheChasers," while a third said: "That was easy for him #BeatTheChasers."

Somebody else said: "Someone already pointing out the easiest ones were easy. #BeatTheChasers."

However, not everyone was complaining abut his win on the ITV show, with many also complimenting the funnyman on his victory.

A fan pointed out: "Yes the questions were easy but fair play too him & remember it’s for charity #BeatTheChasers."

Celebrity Beat The Chasers is available to watch on ITVX.
