Glastonbury 2024: Sugababes fans react to overcrowding at West Holts stage

Fans of Sugababes have taken to social media to air their grievances against Glastonbury after overcrowding led to the West Holts stage being closed off to a large number of attendees on Friday.

On Friday (June 28), Sugababes performed at the West Holts stage. However, what was meant to be a joyous affair for fans turned into frustration as a large portion of fans were turned away from entering the stage area to watch the group.

For the second time in a row, stages to Sugababes sets at  Glastonbury were blocked off due to overcrowding. It first happened in 2022 at the Avalon Stage. The Avalon Stage has an approximate capacity of 3,000, while the expected capacity of the West Holts stage is 35,000 “ per the Daily Mail. The festival’s main stage, the Pyramid, can reportedly hold up to 120,000 people.

The West Holts Stage was packed long before the Sugababes took to the stage, with many  X  users taking to the platform to share shots of the seemingly never-ending crowd.

When the group got onstage, they put on a show for the ages, making their bid for a legend s slot showcase in the future. The group ripped through a setlist comprised of banger after banger, beginning with ˜Freak Like Me , ˜Hole in The Head and more. To close out their set, the group welcomed a deafening singalong with the trio of ˜Push The Button , ˜Round Round and ˜About You Now .

The first day of Glastonbury 2024 has been an action-packed affair: boyband  SEVENTEEN made history as the first K-pop group to grace the Pyramid Stage, while Irish folk band  The Mary Wallopers  played  Glastonbury  for the second year in a row this afternoon, moving up to the Park Stage from the Crows Nest and Acoustic Stage.

Elsewhere,  Paul Heaton and Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) had a mini Housemartins reunion, as they performed the 1986 hit ˜Happy Hour during Heaton s Pyramid Stage set.  Bombay Bicycle Club also brought out Blur frontman Damon Albarn as a special guest  to perform ˜Heaven .

Dua Lipa also turned in an energetic headlining performance at the Pyramid Stage, and even enlisted the help of Tame Impala for a song.
