How to solve the Father and Son puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Father and Son puzzle, or safe code, rather, is something you come across at the end of a side mission. Make sure you've met a character named Gina so you can receive the next quest steps. We've got all the details for you in the next sections.
A Nun in Trouble side quest
The side quest in question is called A Nun in Trouble. In it, Gina asks you to meet with her at the Sistine Chapel. This leads to a trek all over the city. You accompany Gina as she makes her way through the Museum Wing and, eventually, the Borgia Tower.
At the top of Borgia Tower, you have to defeat a Blackshirts goon to rescue Gina's contact, Giuliana. This earns you the Giuliana's Key item. Note that the Venus Figurine, one of the Lost Artifacts of Europe, is also in the same room.
Giuliana's Key, secret room, and miscellaneous rewards
Now, it's time to use Giuliana's Key. Head back one floor town Borgia Tower, at the spot where you used your bullwhip to cross the gap. You should see a locked door, which you can open by using Giuliana's Key. This takes you to a balcony with the small headquarters of a secret order. You can find some neat stuff here, too:
- There's a Medicine Bottle outside near the zipline.
- Inside the small room, you can pick up the Throttle Adventure Book. If activated, it lets you knock out unaware lightweight and medium-weight opponents with your whip.
- This room also has a dog and a very awesome cat.
Father and Son: Italian Poem clue
In any case, you should now gather clues to help you solve the Father and Son puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. You'll find one such document in one of the drawers. It's an Italian Poem where the following letters are encircled: I-R-I-A-T-A-S-A.
Father and Son: Polybius Square Diagram
There's also another important document in a drawer, and it's a Polybius Square Diagram. A Polybius Square is a cipher where you have to determine the correct value by looking at the intersection of the columns and rows. In this particular example, the Polybius Square has the numbers 1 to 9 in the center (the values). There are also letters at the outer sections: T-I-S for the columns and O-R-A for the rows.
Father and Son: Safe code and rewards
Now that we have the clues, we can solve the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Father and Son puzzle. Based on the above information, you have to divide the letters from the Italian Poem into pairs. Each pair corresponds to a specific numerical value in the Polybius Square Diagram.
- I-R = 5
- I-A = 8
- T-A = 7
- S-A = This is actually supposed to be the number 9 if you look at the grid (S-A), but the accepted value is actually 3 (S-O). It might be due to a mistranslation or a bug.
Long story short, use the following safe code: 5-8-7-3. This opens the safe, allowing you to pick up several photos and documents.
