Mat Piscatella--the executive producer of Circana, a tech-based market-research company--has released a list on Threads that details the most popular games of the last week released a list of the most popular games of the last week. The list covers the top 10 most-played games on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the latest rankings covering the week ending September 7.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched earlier this month, and made its debut on the roster this week, snagging third place on the list of Steam's most-played titles. Similarly, NBA 2K25 (which launched September 3) slam-dunked its way to the #6 spot on PlayStation's most-played list. It also debuted at #9 on Xbox's most-played list.
But the lists reveal that players aren't simply hooked on new releases alone. MLB The Show 24 may have launched way back in March, but its addition to the PlayStation Plus game catalogue on September 3 saw it hit a home run, sliding all the way from 42nd place (week ending August 30) to the #10 spot on Circana's rankings for most-played Xbox titles.
Call of Duty HQ--which allows fans of the franchise to launch games like Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, along with other Call of Duty titles--ultimately came out on top. It managed to land the #1 spot on both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S lists for the second week in a row, and also came in at #4 on Steam's list (up from #8 the week before). Call of Duty HQ is likely to top the charts this fall, too, once Black Ops 6 releases on October 25.
