Marvel's one and only movie for 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, is a smashing success at the box office. After its first weekend, Deadpool & Wolverine earned $205 million in North America and $233.3 million from international markets for a global start of $438 million.
That's the biggest opening for an R-rated movie of all time, surpassing a record held by 2016's Deadpool. It's also the biggest opening weekend for any movie so far in 2024, surpassing Inside Out 2 ($155 million).
Some of the other records for Deadpool & Wolverine include the 34th consecutive MCU movie to launch at No. 1 at the US box office; biggest opening weekend ever for July (beating The Lion King; $191.8 million); and biggest global opening weekend since Avatar: The Way of Water.
