How to get the Golden Vow in Elden Ring
The Elden Ring Golden Vow ability is one of the best in the entire game. That's because it increases the attack and defense of you and your allies. This ability comes in three types: an Ash of War that can be applied to weapons, an Incantation-type spell, and a consumable that can be crafted. Our guide discusses where each one is located.

The map above shows where you can find the Golden Vow Ash of War. It's in the northern portion of the Limgrave region.

The idea is to make your way to the Warmaster's Shack Site of Grace. From there, go through the narrow dirt path to the coliseum, then swing to the east to arrive at a small ruined building. Behind that building is a mounted knight. Once you've defeated this foe, it'll drop the reward.
As an Ash of War, the Elden Ring Golden Vow ability can be applied to most weapons, provided that their innate skill can be changed. We recommend just applying this to a basic armament like a dagger and equipping it as your second main hand weapon. This allows you to activate the skill at the cost of 40 FP, before swapping to your regular weapon and engaging opponents in battle.

The Golden Vow spell is found in Mount Gelmir, which is further to the northeast of the Lands Between. It's going to take you a while before you reach this particular region.

To get the Golden Vow spell, you need to follow the main highway in Altus Plateau until you reach the Bridge of Iniquity Site of Grace to the north. Continue along the battlefield that's littered with corpses, as well as various enemy mobs like Iron Maidens, rabid dogs, and armored knights. At the end of this path is the Corpse-Strewn Shack, where you'll find the reward.
The Golden Vow Incantation spell is more potent than the Ash of War variant. It has the following characteristics:
- FP cost: 47
- Attribute required: Fai 25

Finally, those who own the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion can make use of the craftable version of the Golden Vow skill. This is done by obtaining the Battlefield Priest's Cookbook 3 in Scadu Altus.
From the Highroad Cross Site of Grace, continue along the main highway that leads to Shadow Keep. Then, enter the camp that's guarded by a Furnace Golem and several Messmer Soldiers. You'll find the Battlefield Priest Cookbook 3 inside one of the tents along the left section of the camp.
Golden Vow consumable item
The Battlefield Priest Cookbook 3 unlocks the Golden Vow crafting recipe, which requires the following materials:
- 1x Blessed Bone Shard
- 2x Shadow Sunflower
Moreover, there are certain locations in the game where you can pick up the consumable variant as a reward. This item can be used regardless of your current attributes.
