After Welcome to Plathville star uploaded a new photo with his girlfriend, , some fans were convinced that the pair secretly tied the knot.
“Side by side always 🤍@veronica.plath,” Plath, 23, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 2.
In the comments section, social media users questioned whether he popped the question or Veronica preemptively changed her last name to Plath.
“I actually legally changed my name to have no last name,” Veronica wrote via Instagram comment, shutting down the speculation. “I can’t wait for people to get upset over the fact I am legally just Veronica.”
The “veronica.plath” page is labeled as a personal blog for the couple and has been active since August 2024.
“Keep Jumping to Conclusions … This Is Our Joint Account,” a social media bio reads.
Plath had first posted Veronica on his individual account in September 2024.
“So thankful for you, my better half,” he gushed, tagging the joint page. “Love you babe🤍🤍.”
Throughout 2024, Plath and Veronica documented relationship milestones on the account. They went on vacation with his famous family, posed on dinner dates and celebrated her birthday last month.
“New house, half birthday, and a whole lot of extra! 🏡🎂,” a December 22 upload read. “Celebrating milestones big and small, because life’s too short for just one party!”
Plath had previously left his family’s Cairo, Georgia, hometown to move in with Veronica in Florida. Their relationship was further highlighted on season 6 of TLC’s Welcome to Plathville.
“I think we’re in real love,” he revealed during a September 2024 episode. “It’s not all bliss, but we love each other. It’s not all happy and roses 100 percent of the time, but it is a lot of the time.”
Veronica noted at the time that they had a “genuine” loving relationship. In another episode later that month, the pair went ring shopping.
“We haven’t seriously talked about getting married,” Veronica said in a confessional. “We’ve definitely joked around about it, like, ‘We’d randomly get married and just show up.’ Don’t know if that’s my style being a Type-A [person] … like, ‘Let’s plan this.’”
In a separate confessional from the September 23 broadcast, Plath admitted that he could see a long-term future with Veronica since they moved in together.
“Even though it’s unsaid, marriage is on the table,” he mused. “To be honest, I’m not quite ready to put a ring on it. It’s a big commitment, like, in my mind I’m so young. Sometimes I’m like, ‘Am I really in this stage of my life?’”
