It seems that the Shelbys are here to stay and Steven Knight is ready for new storylines following the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film. Knight, who is the creator of the franchise, recently teased on Times Radio that he is not closing the door on future projects beyond the film that is set to release in the next year.
Speaking to Jane Mulkerrins, the screenwriter did confirm that wrapping on the Peaky Blinders film has been completed ahead of the holidays, though no release date has been set just yet. He said, "It's a bit too soon for that, but you know, you can sort of work out that it will be about a year. As for future franchise projects, Knight did answer that he does have plans, "Well, it’s interesting you should ask that question because the film is coming out and that won’t be the end." Though Knight did not reveal if that meant a new spin-off series or film, he did share, "It won't be the end, let me put it that way. I’m not saying none of it."
The popular series saw Cillian Murphy star as Tom Shelby. Murphy continued to reprise his role for the upcoming film, which also features Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth and Stephen Graham. Stay tuned for the official release date of the upcoming film and details on future Peaky Blinders projects.
