At a recent event celebrating the forthcoming film produced by the sneaker purveyor, A Ma Maniere unveiled special release from the "While You Were Sleeping" collection that merges iconic symbols from America's most ubiquitous shoe brands.
The "While You Were Sleeping" Converse Chuck 70, closely mirrors the original canvas sneaker from Converse, aside from the large black "swoosh" on the lateral panel borrowed from Nike's lexicon. Surprisingly, in the 20+ years that Nike has owned Converse, A Ma Maniere's Chuck 70 marks the first time an official Converse silhouette has repped the famous Nike swoosh.
The shoe joins James Whitner's line-up of special releases, complementing the release of his short film, which includes other models from Nike and Converse. In line with A Ma Maniere's pared-back aesthetic, the Chuck 70's features beige uppers, matching laces and maroon piping along the midsole. Converse's emblem is found on the opposite medial panel, while Nike's duo-tone wordmark tab is attached to the tongue.
As of now, the "While You Were Sleeping" Chuck 70 is extremely limited with only 50 UK and 100 US editions being distributed to friends and family of the brand. Stay tuned to Hypebeast for updates on a potential broader release of the swoosh'ed A Ma Maniere Converse Chuck 70s.
