OTW by Vans and multidisciplinary artist Sterling Ruby are collaborating once again under S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA., unveiling a bold new collection that expands on the creative vision of their debut earlier this year. Following the success of their February 2024 release, this second drop introduces seven dynamic pieces, including footwear and apparel that delve deeper into the artistic and design language established in their first collaboration.
This latest offering shifts to a more refined color palette, transitioning from neon green and orange to rich shades of green and gold. Drawing inspiration from Ruby's fascination with transformation and decay, the collection incorporates striking motifs such as decomposing jack-o'-lanterns and monstrous claw patterns, both rooted in the artist's fine art practice.
The footwear lineup features four iconic silhouettes built on OTW Vibram soles: the Old Skool 36, the Sk8-Hi 38, and the Slip-On 98. These designs are offered in solid tones or with the signature SR claw pattern in bold orange and green. Crafted with premium materials like goatskin collar linings, glossy sidewalls and sustainably produced American-grown cotton, the footwear reflects OTW by Vans’ commitment to elevated craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.
For the first time, the collaboration includes an apparel collection, which consists of a T-shirt, a long-sleeve tee and a hoodie. Each piece showcases Ruby's distinctive jack-o'-lantern graphics, co-branded elements and the thought-provoking phrase “ABSOLUTE CONTEMPT FOR TOTAL SERENITY,” referencing the artist’s ACTS sculpture series.
The Vans x S.R. STUDIO. LA. CA. collection is priced from $125 - $200 USD and will be available starting December 5, exclusively at Vans’ webstore.
