Vans is set to release a GORE-TEX version of its classic Old Skool model, reimagining the humble canvas skate shoe in the supremely durable material.
From afar, the Old Skool GORE-TEX looks identical to its classic counterpart, aside from minor design details that set the upgraded model apart. Everything from the suede overlays, the singular white stripe and the general silhouette stays true to the original. In this case, it's the functionality of the new outdoor-geared uppers that is the most exciting feature.
Owners of the original Old Skool can attest to how easily they soaked once they make contact with water, but with the GORE-TEX Old Skool, owners can rest assured that they can keep their feet dry for longer. However, water resistance isn't the only benefit: the material's durable construction and tenacity make it ideal for high-impact active use.
In addition to the functional features, the Old Skool GORE-TEX features the patented fabric's famous word mark on a small tab on the lateral collar, as well as a repeating logo print shown in lining the collar. The design is finally finished with a zig-zag stitch tracing the tips of the GORE-TEX tongues.
The Vans Old Skool GORE-TEX will be released in Japan on November 30. Stay tuned to Hypebeast for updates on the forthcoming global release.
