PORTER has added a sleek black colorway to its redesigned TANKER collection. As the flagship model in the Japanese bagmaker's lineup, TANKER had undergone a refresh last year, namely utilizing a plant-based nylon construction to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, whilst adding subtle but tasteful detailing throughout.
Having first released in sage green and iron blue, the latest black iteration will likely be a crowd favorite for its everyday appeal. Available in 40 models, from shoulder bags to totes, duffle bags to backpacks, the newest TANKER maintains all the hallmarks of the classic, such as its sturdy, lightweight construction, complemented by a punchy orange lining on the interior.
Launched in 1983, TANKER features a three-layer construction that is inspired by the U.S. Air Force’s MA-1 flight jackets. The bags quickly became a hit in Japan, where they are still handmade today, and across the world for conflating military functionality for daily use, whether for business or a casual jaunt around town. Collaborations have also been plentiful over the years, with Hiroshi Fujiwara's fragment design, N.HOOLYWOOD and Moncler being some of the more notable.
