Halloween month is officially upon us, and KAWS is continuing his not-so-spooky MONSTERS series with a new all-black range of vinyl figures. A continuation of the cereal-inspired cartoons the artist created for General Mills in 2022, the latest range of MONSTERS figures feature an identical build to the set that KAWS dropped in March of this year, but swap out the initial collection's rich tones in favor of a monochromatic makeover.
Frute Brute, Count Chocula, Franken Berry and Boo Berry are highlighted in the collection, with each figure standing between 11 and 13 inches tall. Besides their monochromatic construction, the only tell that each is a KAWS collaboration is on their eyes, where the artist's familar "X" logo replaces a standard pupil. This detail dates all the way back to his famed Companion figure, itself inspired by Mickey Mouse.
The release of these new MONSTERS figures arrives during a typically busy period for the ever-active artist. His work is spotlighted alongside some of Andy Warhol's most famous creations in the KAWS + Warhol exhibition at the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh — which spotlights the dark themes present in each artist's work — and he also recently released a BIG MOON lamp inspired by his latest KAWS: HOLIDAY installation.
Grab each of the new MONSTERS figures via the KAWSONE webstore now for $320 USD a pop.
