For Celine's Spring/Summer 2025 womenswear collection, Hedi Slimane was inspired by a story of lost love after re-reading Françoise Sagan's 1965 novel, La Chamade. The latest collection, titled "Un Été Français," was designed in may 2024 and follows a heroine who wears an all black silk jersey paired with a short fringe.
Classic prep silhouettes return in the form pleated boarding school skirt suits, tailored in light summer cashmere. Other pieces include short summer coats in suede embroidered with twinsets adorned with sequins, worn over a suspended pencil skirt or a mini a-line skirt. Hedi finds inspiration everywhere. Back in 2003, the Celine designer documented the youth scene from from London to Paris, from Saint-Germain to South Kensington where he saw uptown lolitas wearing babydoll dresses storm the English concert scene.
The French summer aesthetic is highlighted with suspended silk dresses handcrafted in two-tone feathers and sequins. Summer dresses are entirely hand-crocheted and embroidered with crystals and silver sequins. Celine's delicate jewelry including layered necklaces over sleeveless t-shirts complementing graphic slingbacks made of exotic leathers.
