Studio Nicholson is preparing for the frigid months ahead through a comfy Winter 2024 collection. Without reinventing the wheel, the British label revisits a number of timeless silhouettes, from military and workwear to business casual and knitwear, each reinterpreted in a contemporary lens that favors slightly oversized fits that are crafted in sustainable materials.
Outwear takes central focus for Nick Wakeman, Studio Nicholson's founder and creative director, who drew inspiration from the coats worn by '90s actors, such as the houndstooth piece donned by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kim Basinger clad in a mannish overcoat, as well as the attire worn by Japanese architect Tadao Ando and his team. “I was thinking mostly about the cornerstones of what winter actually means for clothing,” Wakeman explained in a statement. “It’s ultimately about outerwear and knitwear, texture and strong fabrics.”
Standouts for both men and women include the boxy wool Cover Coat and Ria Coat in a navy, espresso and charcoal colorway that billows over the body, allowing for ample layering underneath. For the more extreme cold, the Loft Down Jacket and Dana Down Jacket will channel plenty of warmth, featuring a reverse-quilted construction, crafted from a showerproof poly fabric filled with recycled goose down. Knitwear continues to stand as a core pillar for Studio Nicholson, as the high-neck Iwaki Knit jacket, Hashi Knit vest and Vico Knit sweater provide supple sophistication to your wardrobe.
