Netflix has officially dropped the trailer for its upcoming NBA-focused docuseries, Starting 5. The series follows five of the league's biggest superstars, including LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis.
The series gives fans a closer look at the daily regiments of each NBA star, giving a behind-the-curtain look at their training, motivations and journey to greatness as they push pass injuries and balance prioritizing family and establishing a legacy. Directed by Susan Ansman, Trishtan Williams, Peter J. Scalettar and executive produced by Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, Philip Byron and Randy Mims (for UNINTERRUPTED); President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Vinnie Malhotra and Ethan Lewis (for Higher Ground); and Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Sam Pepper (for Omaha Productions), the series is backed by big name people who have joined forces in capturing the lives five of NBA's biggest stars.
The official synopsis reads, "James exerts himself harder than ever to stay healthy — and dominant — in his 21st season, while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise. Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship. Starting 5 delivers an unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball."
The docuseries arrives in 10, 45 minute episodes and is set to premiere on October 9 on Netflix. Watch the official trailer above.
