Eminem has set a brand new Billboard 200 record with his greatest hits compilation album, Curtain Call.
Billboard reports that the 2005 project is officially the first hip-hop album in history to log 700 weeks on the album chart and the sixth overall. The latest Billboard 200 weekly chart lists Curtain Call at No. 198 with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the week of August 30 to September 5.
Ahead of Curtain Call are albums from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Metallica, Journey, Bob Marley and Pink Floyd. The only other hip-hop albums close to Em's 700-week record are Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city at 619 weeks and Drake's Take Care at 601 weeks.
The news arrives shortly after Eminem announced the extended edition of his latest album The Death of Slim Shady. Its Mourner's Edition was unveiled with a clip that stars the rapper and The Alchemist, confirming a September 13 release.
