James Blake and Lil Yachty have debuted their collaborative album Bad Cameo.

Clocking in at approximately 45 minutes, the 10-track record features is an admirable fusion between Blake's penchant for ambient music and Yachty's distinctive and etheral vocals. To clarify: Bad Cameo is not a hip-hop album, and anyone who expects a hard-hitting effort from the pair will be sorely disappointed. For those who are open to listening to an explorative sonic space, however, the record will prove to be a fulfilling experience.

During their recent Apple Music interview, the pair revealed that the album's overall sound was carved out of a conversation wherein Yachty told Blake that he's done enough work in rap. "I think what people might not know about this record is that most of the songs started by me playing him a piece of beatless ambience and then him literally just writing a song in about under 20 seconds. It was crazy," Blake said. "I think that's something that people might not realize about [Yachty] is that yes, he can come out and rage and the whole, you can see some of his shows, the energy of his shows is insane, but also you put a different style of music in front of him and he'll just write the most beautiful song you've ever heard."

"I think I have a better understanding of quality and I feel like [Blake] pushed me to," Yachty shared of his time working on this album, "he didn't push me physically like told me, 'Do better,' but just being around and experiencing him work pushed me to try to have reason in my songwriting and to just live up to the quality of James’ catalog."
