Here Are the Best Looks at Met Gala 2024

As fashion's biggest night out rounds out the first Monday of May, industry critics and aficionados all around the world had their eyes on the Met Gala red carpet in New York City. This year's attendees showed off their best interpretation of the Met Gala 2024 theme, "The Garden of Time," coinciding with the Costume Institute's exhibition, "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion." Borrowed from English writer J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same name The Garden of Time, this year's event was co-chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth.

Guest showed up and showed out, sharing their various renditions of this year's theme, while also honoring some of the most timeless designers in the history of fashion. Arguably one of the most important nights in the industry, some key looks stood out as per usual. Zendaya stole the show with her outfit change, serving drama both times on the runway. In gowns designed by John Galliano, Zendaya paid homage to the many eras of the designer, wearing first a custom Maison Margiela Artisanal dress that was a nod Galliano's Dior Spring 1999 couture collection. The dress was paired with Bulgari jewelry to round out the look and her makeup was inspired by the viral beauty looks created by Dame Pat McGrath for the Margiela couture 2024 runway. For her second look, she returned to the runway with a dramatic all-black Givenchy Spring 1996 couture look. A dramatic floral headpiece that resembled a larger-than-life bouquet and a Victorian-inspired corset top that connected to a lengthy train completed her red carpet walk for the night. Zendaya brought the theatrics as this year's Met Gala co-chair, setting the tone for the rest.

Bad Bunny also wore Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano as well as a pair of custom Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela Tabi boots. While floral is certainly the obvious choice for this year's dress code, Bad Bunny places his own spin to the theme, bringing a black barathea wool flower bouquet to complement the look and the night. Poetically dressed in a dark ensemble, he wore a custom black satin corset featuring a jacket made of midnight blue barathea wool smoking with black grosgrain lapels and red silk ribbon inseam lampasse. With an avant-garde hat, he rounds out his sophisticated look with ease. Jennifer Lopez stuns in custom Schiaparelli haute couture piece by Daniel Roseberry. The sculpted strapless sheath gowl took over 800 hours to be hand embroidered and over 2.5 million silver foil bugles and beads to put together.

Other notable looks come from Doja Cat's wet t-shirt moment by VETEMENTS. Margiela continues to have a moment even dressing Kim Kardashian, Gwendoline Christie. Tyla's Balmain look was quite literally timeless. Sculpted to her body in three shades of sand featuring micro-crystal studs for the sparkle finish, Tyla carried an oversized hourglass filled with sand to keep with the theme. Cardi B continued to bring the drama in gothic glamor in Windowsen. Kendall Jenner was the first to ever wear an Alexander McQueen Fall 1999 look from Givenchy's haute couture archive for her 10th Met Gala, taking a literal sense to theme, wearing a dress that has quite evidently been slept on for multiple decades.

Thom Browne had a major moment, dressing the likes of Gigi Hadid in a three-dimensional floral ballgown and Ben Simmons, Jaden Smith, Alton Mason, Cynthia Erivo and more. Nick Minaj embodied the vibrant florals in Marni, while Odell Beckham Jr. stayed classic with Bode. Loewe, which was the official sponsor of the Met Gala, had incredible show stopping moments which saw Greta Lee in a sheer gown made with the delicacy of floral and lace. Loewe also dressed Ayo Edebiri for her first Met, blooming in full for spring with a floral, backless column dress.
