Nike Reveals Its PGA Championship Golf Shoe Pack

With the Masters in the rear view mirror, the PGA Championship is right around corner and set to kick off on May 16 from Louisville, Kentucky. As has become tradition, Nike has prepared a series of limited edition shoes to build around excitement around the second major on the golf calendar, and this year a new model has been brought into the fold: the Air Pegasus 89 G.

Similar to the Jordan Brand collaboration with Happy Life Wood that paid tribute to the Masters and vintage hickory golf clubs, the Air Pegasus 89 G "PGA Championship" is executed in various rich bourbon hues and wood grain textures, paying homage to the history of distilling in the state of Kentucky. Pay attention closely to the Swoosh or toe mudguards and you'll find a grain pattern resembling the stump of a freshly cut tree. The interplay between textures and finishes also occurs on the grooved grey mudguards, smooth grey panels and white speckled midsoles. The spikeless outsole, of course, is slightly raised compared to the normal lifestyle version of the shoe.

Moving on to the tour-specific models, the Air Zoom Infinity Tour 2 will likely be worn by Brooks Koepka in his bid to defend last year's title. The majority of the upper is constructed from a grey Nike Flyweave material that lets air in but keeps water out, while the Swoosh once again displays a wood grain pattern, albeit more on the subtle side. On the outsole is a total of six integrated spikes placed beneath an Air Zoom unit for maximum energy return.

The Air Zoom Victory Tour 3 wraps up the trio, a sleeker and more classic looking shoe worn by Nike's biggest name Rory McIlroy. Full grain leather presents a clean look on the lateral side of the shoe, which on the medial side is cut on half vertically by another faux wood material. Unlike the other two, the Victory is outfitted with conventional twist spikes that can be removed once worn down.

All three models are set to release via Nike on May 10. The Victory is priced at $210 USD, the Infinity at $190 USD and the Pegasus at $140 USD.
