Mercedes-Benz Blends Classic Luxury and Future Tech With New EQS

Mercedes-Benz has announced a significant update for its flagship electric vehicle (EV), the EQS, enhancing its luxury, range and functionality. The 2024 EQS now boasts a new design featuring the brand's iconic upright star and chrome-trimmed radiator grille. This update underscores the automaker's commitment to blending traditional luxury cues with advanced electric vehicle technology.

The EQS's electric prowess is now even more capable, with an increased battery capacity from 108.4 kWh to 118 kWh. This upgrade extends the maximum range of models like the EQS 450 4MATIC to up to 496 miles on a single charge, marking an improvement of over 11 percent. Even more impressive is the EQS 450+ which promises distances of up to 510 miles without the need for recharging.

Additional updates include an increase in towing capacity to 3,747 pounds for the 4MATIC versions, allowing for greater versatility on the road. Mercedes-Benz has also introduced a new brake maintenance function to ensure longevity and reliability, responding to the unique aspects of electric driving dynamics.

As for comfort, the EQS introduces the Rear Comfort Package Plus with executive seats, offering unparalleled seating comfort and space. This package includes an innovative slanted footrest in the rear, elevating passenger comfort to new levels. Additionally, the MBUX Hyperscreen is now a standard feature, transforming the dashboard into a sleek, 55-inch display that seamlessly integrates three screens.

At the time of writing, specific details on pricing have not yet been shared, however, Mercedes-Benz has shared that sales will begin in late April for the updated EQS, MANUFAKTUR selection and a special edition model.
