Louis Vuitton Launches 'Perfume Atlas' Book With Limited-Edition Box Set

Update: Louis Vuitton's Perfume Atlas, the first book brought to life by the House's master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, is here.

According to its official description, the book "immerses readers in the arcana of the most coveted raw materials in the Master Perfumer’s creations, unveiling the secrets of their harvest, extraction, distillation, and blending through more than 200 watercolor depictions." As previously reported, the perfumer's stories are told through the words of Lionel Paillès, with drawings by Aurore de la Morinerie and photography from Sébastien Zanella.

A Perfume Atlas is available in an exclusive, limited-edition box set, which includes 45 vials of Cavallier-Belltrud's finest raw materials inside a luxe case. The book is now available at all Louis Vuitton stores for €160 EUR, while the box set is going for €5,000 EUR at select retail outposts.

Original Story (1/27/2024): Louis Vuitton has lifted the curtain on its latest print binding: a 380-page book that offers a rare look inside the fragrant proficiency of the French House's master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, titled Louis Vuitton: A Perfume Atlas.

"This book explores the sources of the raw materials, the techniques used to harvest them, and how essential oils are extracted, distilled, and composed to create new and complex fragrances," reads the official description from publisher Theames & Hudson. The publication covers all types of fragrance sources, from Chinese magnolia and osmanthus to Indian tuberose and jasmine.

According to WWD, Cavallier-Belletrud spent almost three years putting together the book, as its contents span three continents. In fact, the tome is available with three different covers inspired by the perfumer's preferred plants, and its chapters are organized by geographical locations. In addition to Cavallier-Belletrud's contributions, the book is authored by Lionel Paillès, with illustrations from Aurore de la Morinerie and photography from Sébastien Zanella.

Perfume Atlas is scheduled to release in select Louis Vuitton stores in France on February 2, for the price of €160 EUR. The limited-edition binding will then release in other countries beginning on April 2. Take a look at the cover in the gallery above.
