Simon Porte Jacquemus Proves His Sculptural Expertise With Ultra-Modern SS24 Collection

The winter sun shined on Simon Porte Jacquemus' Spring/Summer 2024 runway show settled on the coast of Nice, France. Jacquemus' post-fashion week displays have become quite the spectacle, welcoming floating guests to Louis XIV's Palace of Versailles last season. The House of Jacquemus has become identifiable through star-studded showcases drenched in virality, and SS24 was no different.

International glitterati remained on French soil following the conclusion of Paris Fashion Week Men's and Haute Couture, looking to bask under beaming sunshine before returning to their chilled city homes. The brand's "Les Sculptures" offering settled in expertise and paid tribute to the late Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti.

Show-goers, including Kylie Jenner, Kristin Davis, and Julia Roberts, witnessed a new era for Jacquemus that doesn't skimp on innovation. SS24 portrayed Jacquemus' contemporary vision of quiet luxury through unconventional tailoring and warped silhouettes. Gigi Hadid opened the show as usual, wearing a full-leather ensemble with tonal crocodile texture, oversized belting, and voluminous sleeves. She signaled what was to come, followed by ample uniforms with boat neck openings.

Seamless blazers wrapped around the female form with elegance, while new interpretations of workwear arrived with concealed pockets and striped shirting. Orbiting trousers grew into low-slung tops, balancing sophistication and novelty, while tugged trousers froze in time and resembled JW Anderson's jerked SS24 range.

Not everything was big and grand, seeing Jacquemus refine modern staples with elevated fabrications. Crewneck tees were shrunken for a perfect fit, while baggy leather trousers and over-the-shoulder knits were submerged in casual red tones. The collection quickly transcended to fringed galore, catching spotted prints across modern tailoring, asymmetrical dresses, and summer-ready jumpsuits. The SS24 runway concluded with Simon Porte Jacquemus' minimalistic interpretation of progressive bridalwear, closing the show with an envelope-style gown possessing sharp edges and a sheer veil.
