Louis Vuitton has lifted the curtain on its latest print binding: a 380-page book that offers a rare look inside the fragrant proficiency of the French House's master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, titled Louis Vuitton: A Perfume Atlas.
"This book explores the sources of the raw materials, the techniques used to harvest them, and how essential oils are extracted, distilled, and composed to create new and complex fragrances," reads the official description from publisher Theames & Hudson. The publications covers all types of fragrance sources, from Chinese magnolia and osmanthus to Indian tuberose and jasmine.
According to WWD, Cavallier-Belletrud spent almost three years putting together the book, as its contents span three continents. In fact, the tome is available with three different covers inspired by the perfumer's preferred plants, and its chapters are organized by geographical locations. In addition to Cavallier-Belletrud's contributions, the book is authored by Lionel Paillès, with illustrations from Aurore de la Morinerie and photography from Sébastien Zanella.
Perfume Atlas is scheduled to release in select Louis Vuitton stores in France on February 2, for the price of €160 EUR. The limited-edition binding will then release in other countries beginning on April 2. Take a look at the cover in the gallery above.
