A woman in her 70s was left injured in a botched robbery after being grabbed and thrown brutally to the floor.
In the horrific street robbery, which was caught on camera, the victim is seen strolling along Petersfield Road, Hall Green, in broad daylight before being viciously attacked.
Loaded with shopping bags, the pensioner walks down the street unaware of the hooded thug who lies in wait for her to pass him.
At around 2.30pm, the pair cross paths and he grabs her in a desperate bid to snatch the handbag from her shoulder.
The elderly victim clings onto her bag but the would-be thief tugs at her arm, throwing her down onto the ground.
He then flees the scene empty-handed, leaving the woman injured and shaken on the pavement.
Meanwhile, a silver getaway car has pulled up in the middle of the road and waits for the crook to get in.
Once he’s inside the silver VW Passat, they flee from the scene.
The woman, who is in her 70s, was left with arm and shoulder injuries after the attack.
No arrests have yet been made and West Midlands Police confirmed they were examining CCTV, urging anyone with information to come forward.
A spokesman for the force said: ‘Police are investigating after a pensioner was injured during an attempted street robbery in Petersfield Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, around 2.30pm last Tuesday (5 February).
‘A woman in her 70s was flung to the floor after a man wearing a hoodie tried to grab her handbag.
‘He failed and then fled in a silver car which had stopped nearby.
