Police investigating a brutal street murder have been scouring CCTV from pubs and shops as they hunt for a killer.

Dad David Graham, 38, was fatally attacked in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, on Sunday evening, suffering ‘serious’ injuries to his neck.

Horrified locals tried to save him while some were seen running to his aid with towels in a bid to stem the blood flow.

Graham had been walking when he was targeted by an assailant around 7.35pm, who is believed to have links to a property in the area.

Police said they are treating his death as murder and appealed for witnesses.

Detectives are interested in a silver car which was seen parked near the scene before it drove off.

Sources have revealed officers have been visiting businesses in the area asking to examine security footage as they step up their inquires.

One said: ‘Police have been asking to see any CCTV footage and asking questions. They have been to a number of locations as they try and piece together what happened.

‘The killing has stunned the area and rumours are getting wild as to what’s been behind it.’

Graham, a married dad, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but was pronounced dead on arrival by medics.

Police officers taped off the area and locals were quizzed about their movements.

Forensic officers in white suits were also seen combing the area for clues into the death.

A source said: ‘Police have been speaking to people and at least one has been told it was a targeted attack.’

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: ‘A dedicated team of officers are working to get them answers and identify those responsible.

‘We have already spoken to a number of people who came to Mr Graham’s aid until the ambulance arrived and I would like to thank them for their assistance.

‘However, I am still keen to speak to anyone else who was in the area at the time, and may have seen or heard anything suspicious. Please get in touch with officers. We would also urge any motorists with dashcams who were in General’s Gate or Old Glasgow Road areas on Sunday night to check your footage.

‘You may have captured something which could be of significance to our investigation.’
