This is the moment an attacker ripped headscarves of Muslim women as they walked through west London.

Footage shows a number of women wearing headcoverings targeted by someone behind a camera in Kensington.

Instagram user Bahar Mahroo, who shared the video online, wrote: ‘Just as you take democracy away from us in Iran and force us to wear headscarves, since we have democracy in this country, we’ll pull off those very headscarves from you.’

Mahroo denied any involvement in the attacks and said she was only sharing the videos.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘There is no place for this sort of behaviour in London.

‘We are in contact with one of the victims and an investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances and deal with any offences.’

It comes as Iranians head to the polls to vote for a new president, after the late Ebrahim Raisi was killed in a plane crash.

The elections have been dubbed a ‘sham’, with huge protests across Europe calling for a regime change.

Women in the country are subject to ultra-conservative laws by the ‘morality police’, which came to a head after Mahsa Amini died in custody in 2022 when officers accused her of not wearing her headcovering correctly.

Earlier this month, Mahroo was attacked by supporters of the Iranian regime outside a community centre in Wembley.

A protest was being held for the late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi.

Mahroo told the Jewish Chronicle: ‘I cried out telling them to stop. But then they sexually assaulted me, trying to grab my breasts.

Footage shows her companion Navid Bavi lying unconscious after being beaten and thrown to the floor.

Wearing a veil has been compulsory in Iran since 1983 following the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
