A death row inmate ate a massive meal and apologized to his family for murdering his cousin and her husband before receiving a lethal injection.
Seven hours before his execution, Brian Dorsey, 52, had his final meal of two bacon double cheeseburgers, two chicken strips orders, two large fries and a pizzatopped with pepperoni, sausage, onion, mushrooms and extra cheese, stated the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Dorsey in his final statement on Tuesday morning said: ‘To all of the family and loved ones I share with Sarah and to all of the surviving family and loved ones of Ben, I am totally, deeply, overwhelmingly sorry.
‘Words cannot hold the just weight of my guilt and shame. I still love you. I never wanted to hurt anyone. I am sorry I hurt them and you.’
The US Supreme Court denied two separate appeals by Dorsey, who killed Sarah and Ben Bonnie in their home in central Missouri a couple days before Christmas 2006. The couples four-year-old daughter was left home alone.
Dorsey took several deep breaths as the drug was administered, then a few fast and shallow breaths. He raised his head from the pillow and blinked hard at one moment. He was pronounced dead at 6.11pm.
