Eddie Ratcliffe, one of Brianna Ghey’s killers, is set to appeal his murder conviction after being jailed for a minimum of 20 years.
Ratcliffe was 15 when he and Scarlett Jenkinson killed Brianna in Linear Park, Warrington, in February last year.
Brianna was stabbed 28 times by the pair in her head, neck and back in what was described as a ‘frenzied and ferocious attack’.
Both had drawn up a ‘kill list’ of five people they wanted to kill over insignificant or minor dislikes.
Jenkinson was jailed for at least 22 years and Ratcliffe for a minimum of 20 years.
At the time Judge Mrs Justice Yip said both will be jailed until they ‘no longer present a danger to the public’.
She added: ‘Brianna was only 16 years old when she was killed. She had her whole life ahead of her.
‘Brianna had some struggles that made her vulnerable, but she was supported by a loving family who wanted nothing but the best for her.
‘Sadly no-one will know what she would have achieved in her life.’
Addressing Jenkinson, she said: ‘Your motivation, Scarlett, was to act out your fantasies. You wanted to see the pure horror on Brianna’s face.
‘Two days before the murder you said you were excited. Brianna was killed with exceptional brutality.’
She added the terms are ‘lengthy for offenders of your age, albeit significantly less than an equivalent sentence for an adult’.
Neither Jenkinson or Ratcliffe showed any emotion when they were sentenced.
Ratcliffe’s dad, Kyle Ratcliffe, 36, was recently unmasked as a sex offender.
He was jailed for 15 months after admitting two counts of exposure and one count of taking an indecent photo of a child.
Ratcliffe, from Leigh, admitted exposing himself on two occasions, on November 22 and 23 last year.
The court heard he has previous past convictions for similar offences.
