Tiger Woods has already achieved one thing no other player in TGL will be able to complete.
Woods, alongside fellow PGA Tour ace Rory McIlroy, has been the brains behind the new innovative project taking the golf world by storm.
The organisers are looking to ‘reimagine golf for the 21st century’, with the event’s first night of action taking place earlier this week.
But while Woods isn’t on the roster for any of the six teams, the 15-time major winner has a unique TGL record no other player will be able to match.

Explaining his shot during a mic’d up feature at SoFi Center in Florida, Woods said: “I hit the middle, high middle of the screen and the guy said ‘can you hit the camera’.
“I said, ‘I don’t know, where’s the camera?’, he replied, ‘up top’. First shot… [makes an impact gesture].”
The video finished with a clip of Woods pinning the aerial camera with one swing of the golf club, proving after all that class really is permanent.

— TGL (@TGL) January 8, 2025It came at the end of an exciting first week of action at the SoFi Center, as Woods, McIlroy and co. attempt to bring golf into the digital age.
Speaking ahead of the event’s launch, McIlroy told ESPN: “We have teams, obviously, there’s a lot of technology involved, trying to bring it into the digital era.
“A lot of things that we’ve taken from other sports like a shot-clock, a timeout, things that you don’t see in regular golf. [We’re] trying to appeal to that bigger sports audience out there.”

On Woods’ impact, the Irishman continued: “Tiger and I have been a part of this from day one and whenever you see the concepts and the renderings you think, ‘Yeah, that looks really cool'.
“But until you actually stand in here [the SoFi Center] and you see what they’ve been able to do, I think the scale of it is the thing for me that blows my mind.
“Every time I step in here, I’m just blown away by the size of the screen, the fact that we’re able to put something that looks like golf on a stage like this. It’s really cool and we’re obviously really excited about it within the game of golf. I think a lot of other people outside of the game are going to see this and hopefully get excited about it as well.”
