BBC Antiques Roadshow expert issues stern warning as they give everyday item huge value
An Antiques Roadshow guest was left stunned when expert Richard Price valued a manuscript she brought in at a whopping five-figure price.
The guest explained that the diary had been given to her father four decades prior and had been stored in her mother's attic.
She believed it to be the transcript of a diary written by a crew member of the Shackleton expedition aboard the Endurance.
The guest told Richard: "That was the famous expedition that got stuck in the ice and then the crew members survived on the ice for a number of months.
"They then made a journey in the lifeboats to Elephant Island and Shackleton and five others sailed to South Georgia as a rescue party and they got a ship to come and get the other men off."

Richard valued the diary at an eye-watering £30,000 (Image: (Image: BBC))She added: "So all the men actually survived the expedition which was incredible."
Richard was clearly impressed, calling it a "phenomenal tale". He then urged the guest to get an expert to verify the authorship of the text.
Richard managed to come to a valuation without the verification, declaring: "I'm just going to say off the top of my head, £30,000."
The guest was delighted and clearly floored by the eye-watering figure as she muttered: "Oh no. Oh no."
Although the guest explained that she had gone to some lengths to protect the document Richard issued a warning about its storage.
"I don't want it back under your bed or wherever it was before," he said.

The guest revealed it had previously been kept under her mum's TV, to which Richard replied: "Under the TV? Getting warm! Look after it. You must go to Cambridge to let the real people work on it."
Viewers at home were quick to share their thoughts about the valuation, with one writing on social media: "£30,000 for a diary? Well it was from #Endeavour #AntiquesRoadshow."
A second said: "I'd enjoy selling it for 30 grand #AntiquesRoadshow."
Echoing the sentiment, another remarked: "I'd enjoy selling it for 30 grand #AntiquesRoadshow,".
Clearly astonished by the value, a fourth posted: "#AntiquesRoadshow £30,000!"
