The Chase player sets new record as Bradley Walsh gushes 'your family will be so proud'

The Chase: Player makes it to the final with £100k

A player on The Chase left Bradley Walsh floored as he "broke records" on the ITV show. The host gushed over "how proud" the contestant's family would be - despite him going home empty handed.

George from Tonbridge, Willis from Liverpool, Margaret from St Neots and Aaban from Rotherham appeared on the fan-favourite quiz show with hopes of winning a cash prize. As a team, they went head to head with quizzer Shaun Wallace to test their general knowledge skills.

After a tense game, three teammates were caught by the Chaser, missing out on a place in the final and a share of the prize pot. With just 19-year-old Aaban left to play, he decided he might as well risk it all and go for a high offer of £100,000.

Amazingly, he smashed the head-to-head round, securing him another chance to beat the Chaser. If he won, he would have the hefty prize pot all to himself.

Sadly, he struggled in the final round - only answering seven questions correctly. The Chaser needed just eight correct answers to catch him and sadly, the contestant was caught within one minute.

Despite going home without a cash prize, Bradley gushed over the player's performance.

He said: "You're 19, you’re on your own and you just beat a MasterMind champion. Your family will be dead proud of you."

Shaun added: “You’re still a winner. To make TV history as the youngest player to get to the final with that type of money, you should be proud."

Aaban didn't let the loss harm his spirit as he admitted that he was still made up. He explained: “I’m really proud. I didn’t think I’d get this far so to come here and make it to the final with £100,000. I don’t mind not winning. This is enough.”

Brad consoled him further, adding: “It’s not your fault. You are 19 and there were so many questions outside your age remit."

Referring to the rest of the team going home, the presenter added: "You needed a full house, but you’re going to go on to do great things.”
