Antiques Road Trip experts Phil Serrell and Arusha 'Roo' Irvine were left licking their wounds when they both ended up in the red with their chosen antiques in a previous episode of the BBC show.

The day's auction was proving to be a disaster, prompting the quick-thinking pair to call it quits, aiming to bounce back in the next episode.

They made the executive decision to end their search early as they consoled each other on their run of bad luck. A disappointed Arusha quipped: "If I don't laugh, I'll cry! And we had better keep laughing."

Whereas Antiques Road Trip veteran Phil looked on the bright side, encouraging his fellow expert: "One more leg!"

"We had better go and spend some money," he said as they abruptly walked out of the auction room.

Meanwhile, their co-star Catherine Southon was left gobsmacked on a separate episode as she managed to bag a fortune on a WWI periscope auction.

The auctioneer told the room: “I’ve got lots of interest on this WW1 antique. I’ve got four commission bids left on the book and I can open up the bidding at £220."

He continued: "At £220, looking for £240 on the phone. £240, £260 is with me, £280. £300 is with me.”

Catherine was left stunned as the value continued to soar, eventually reaching £480 as she told the cameras: "I can’t believe this."

“I might just go home now," her co host told her.

The item managed to bag an impressive £480, leaving Catherine completely stunned.
