Mikel Arteta drops Arsenal January transfer hint as boss confirms 'we will look at it'

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted that the Gunners may be open to making moves in the January transfer window if the right opportunity presents itself.

Despite being linked with a host of potential signings, including Wolves' star Matheus Cunha, Arteta remained non-committal about any imminent deals.

This comes after Arsenal's impressive 3-1 comeback victory over Brentford, with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli.

The Gunners boss was quick to praise his current squad, stating: "At the moment it is looking after the players and get the best out of them," and "I really like my players and I believe in what we have as there's a lot of quality and commitment."

However, he did leave the door open for potential new arrivals, adding: "Let's see, if there's an opportunity we will look at it".

Arteta also took the time to commend the recent performances of Jesus and Martinelli, describing their contributions as "really important".

Arteta has hailed his team's ability to spread the goals around, following their latest win. "It is a big quality of our team, to share the goals.

Today we have done it again, scoring in three very different ways. Great. That is what we need. The people up front have to be firing, with that feeling, and they are with that feeling right now."

He also lauded young talent Ethan Nwaneri for his performance on his first Premier League start, clarifying that his selection was not just due to illness in the squad.

Arteta said: "Well, in that position it wasn't because of the bug. It was a decision I made because I thought he was the best player to play in the position to start the game and because there was a story there with his debut here.

"He made his Premier League debut and sometimes that feeling comes in and you feel it is the right one and then who knows?"
