PGA Tour told to make major rule change in order to benefit Tiger Woods
Golf enthusiasts are urging the PGA Tour to permit Tiger Woods to participate in tournaments using a golf cart, potentially extending his playing career.
The Jupiter-based golfer has established himself as one of the greatest players in history, with an impressive 82 PGA Tour victories and 15 major championships under his belt.
However, injury issues have forced him to adopt a part-time schedule in recent years. In 2024, Woods only participated in five PGA Tour events and withdrew during the second round of the Genesis Invitational due to illness.

The main issue over the past three years has been his right leg, following a severe car accident near Los Angeles in February 2021.

Although his discomfort is evident when walking on the course, turning 49 this week could make things a bit easier for the golf legend.
Woods, at 50, is now eligible to compete on the PGA Tour Champions, a senior circuit that allows players to use a cart during competition. This is a benefit not currently extended to regular PGA Tour events, potentially signalling the end of some players' time on the leading circuit.

However, fans are calling for a change in this rule for Woods. One golf enthusiast took to social media, tweeting: "The guy is a legend to the sport, completely changed the game and nobody will truly understand how much he grew the game before "growing the game" became a phrase for golf."
"Let the man have a cart, it would help him big time, too. We need him on Sunday fighting for the lead one last time."
Another fan chimed in with: "I'd let him have a golf buggy now. Tiger has always pushed the boundaries in golf. Let him be the first and others will follow."

While Woods has yet to officially confirm if he'll transition to the Champions Tour, golfing legend Jack Nicklaus believes it's a move he'll make eventually.
Jack Nicklaus stated that he expects Woods to dominate on the senior circuit when he becomes eligible. "I think Tiger will play the senior tour," Nicklaus told the Golf Channel earlier this year.
"He'll be able to get in a cart, and he'll absolutely kill everybody. "He's a talented guy, a great worker, got a great work ethic. Loves to play golf.
