Outlander season 7 part 2 trailer on STARZ

Caitriona Balfe, the star of Outlander, has expressed her "deep love" for co-star Sam Heughan, who portrays her on-screen husband Jamie Fraser in the hit Starz series, a partnership that has spanned 11 years.

Balfe revealed how she supported Heughan during a particularly "very difficult" period in his life, recalling an instance where she had to cover for him when he was "very upset" during filming.

With season 7 part 2 on the horizon, Caitriona opened up about their profound connection and the extent of their mutual support.

In a heartfelt discussion with She Knows, the Outlander lead shared numerous anecdotes demonstrating the duo's unwavering support for one another throughout their time together.

Caitriona remarked: "Sam and I, I feel like we are truly family. And we may not always be the closest in terms of, like, we don't hang out maybe as much as sometimes he hangs out with other people on the cast, or I hang out with other people on the cast."

She continued, highlighting their solid bond: "I think just because sometimes our interests divide, but we truly have each other's backs. Like, truly are there for each other."

Reflecting on a personal challenge, she added: "I mean, the first thing that comes to mind, I was having a tough time with a scene and a situation this season, and you know, Sam's the first person to come to my trailer and be there for me and kind of talk me through it"

"And talk me down off my ledge and just support me and be such a good f***** human."

The actress fondly reminisced about a moment when she supported her co-star Sam, sharing: "This is going back a few seasons, but we would do this stuff for each other."

She recounted an instance where Sam was visibly distressed due to personal issues, just as they were about to film, reports the Daily Record.

"He was having a really hard time in his personal life about something, and right before we were getting to do a take, I saw he looked at his phone. And I could see that he was very upset about something," she said.

In a quick-thinking move to give him some space, she exclaimed: "And so, I was like, 'He needs a minute, but they're about to go.' And I was just like, 'Ahhhh! I have to go to the toilet!'

"And I ran out of the room just to stop things so that he could have his minute. And I'm sure everyone thought I had diarrhea, but I was willing to look like I had diarrhea for that man. So yeah, that's how deep our love goes."
