Bernardo Silva's touching classy to Everton star after Haaland spat in Man City draw

Everton demonstrated their resilience with another commendable draw as Iliman Ndiaye's spectacular goal secured a point at Manchester City. The Senegalese star's delicate touch and skilful half-volley at the back post followed Bernardo Silva's early opener for the hosts.

City squandered a golden opportunity to retake the lead when Jordan Pickford saved Erling Haaland's penalty. Despite this, the reigning champions were unable to break down Everton's sturdy defence.

But another lesser-spotted incident caught the eye after the match: Bernardo Silva's classy gesture outside the changing rooms.

Silva had a mixed afternoon on Boxing Day. His deflected goal off Jarrad Branthwaite put his team ahead early on.

However, he missed a chance to double the lead just before Ndiaye's equaliser, shooting wide with the outside of his boot after being set up by Phil Foden. The outcome was another disappointing one for City, but Silva displayed his class at the end of the match with a moment that also underscored the immense respect Seamus Coleman has garnered throughout his lengthy career.

Silva's gesture showed his class, as he could have easily been angered by Coleman's antics as Haaland stepped up to take his penalty.

The Irishman politely declined to reveal what he had said to the struggling City forward, quipping to TNT Sports that he simply said: "Merry Christmas!"

Coleman continued: "We came here looking to get a point and you'll do anything you can sometimes to win. There was no swearing or anything like that.

"I had a little joke with Ashley (Young, who was unavailable). I said, 'of all the games you could have given me, you've given me Man City away?!”
