Call The Midwife fans in tears and 'rioting' just minutes into Christmas special
Call The Midwife returned to BBC One for the first half of a bumper Christmas special that saw Helen George return as Trixie Aylward as she helped with the Nonnatus House festivities. Meanwhile, Fred Buckle (Cliff Parisi) played the role of Santa as he offered gifts to the children in hospital over the Christmas period.
Elsewhere, Reggie (Daniel Laurie) had been out of town and he had been expecting Fred to pick him up from the bus station. However, Fred got stuck in traffic after a prison break-out and Reggie was left stranded.
By the time he finally reached the station, Reggie had taken it upon himself to get a bus home, however he ended up miles away from Poplar. With no idea where he was, Fred was left in distress as he shouted Reggie's name.
Viewers proclaimed they were in tears just minutes into the show after seeing Reggie on screen. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, @sophemma_xoxo said: "Reggie has me going already and it’s only been four minutes #CallTheMidwife" followed by an image of someone crying.
@DebbieBlackma14 added: "Six minutes in and they already have me terrified for Teddy and crying over Reggie #CallTheMidwife." Teddy had been overcoming a treatable illness in hospital.
