Pyrotechnics show dazzle HK on Christmas Eve

Large crowds flocked to the waterfront promenade along the West Kowloon Cultural District on Tuesday for a spectacular pyrotechnics show to mark Christmas Eve. Many people RTHK spoke to said they were extremely impressed with the 10-minute "Winter Harbourfront Pyrotechnics", which will be on for three consecutive nights from December 24 to 26. Eunice, a resident from Macau, said celebrating Christmas Eve in Hong Kong for the first time was a delightful experience, with the pyrotechnic show serving as an unexpected bonus. "I was definitely impressed. It's just crazy to me. It's my first time witnessing an experience like this and I think it's great. I really like the excitement," she said. "There was this family in front of me and their little baby going 'wa' every single time and it just really made my day. It's the highlight of my day trip here in Hong Kong." A woman from Guangzhou said the show symbolised Hong Kong's prosperity, and wished it could be longer. Meanwhile, a group of children clad in Christmas attire enthusiastically awarded the show 20,000 points for its beauty, while saying they enjoyed spending time with each other. The government said special traffic and transport arrangements are in place to cater for those enjoying the festivities, with MTR local lines and seven light rail lines operating overnight on Christmas Eve, and KMB also strengthening services on many routes.
