Hypegolf List: The 10 Best Collaborations of 2024

Throughout 2024, collaborations continued to be a useful tool for small and large brands alike. These two-way projects have the ability to merge separate worlds, and although the perception of golf in the mainstream is shifting, thanks in no small part to these cross-cultural link-ups, there is still a way to go to convince the masses that the sport is genuinely “cool.” Collaborations such as Kith x TaylorMade and Miura x Reigning Champ, both of which happened in the last 12 months, serve to that end. On the other side of the coin, labels that lean on the progressive side can benefit from the association with heritage brands, lending an added layer of authenticity and purpose. Enter Maxfli x Metalwood or Malbon x adidas.

All that cultural context aside, collaborative collections are just a lot of fun. And although some are fatigued with them in mainstream fashion amid questions of authenticity, we haven’t yet reached the point of complete saturation in golf. This means that collaborations that go beyond the bare minimum logo slap still can succeed and push the industry forward.

There were a lot of quality golf apparel collaborations in 2024, but these ten were particularly outstanding.

Miura x Reigning Champ

Miura, a golf equipment manufacturer that’s been around since 1957, is known for its meticulous process of grain-forging iron sets. Reigning Champ on the other hand, is an athletic streetwear brand distinguished for its elevated quality garments. Therein lies the common ground for this collaboration: a love for the process. The Miura x Reigning Champ Dot Air Condor Pullover Black became one of our favorite pieces this year. It's a lightweight top that folds easily into the side pocket of a golf bag and offers just enough warmth for those transitional fall or spring days.

Quiet Golf x Holderness & Bourne

In 2024 Quiet Golf, a brand with roots in minimalism and streetwear added a new dimension by developing a line of more traditional golf apparel to be distributed through country club channels. And although that won’t officially arrive until next year, the collaboration with Holderness & Bourne, a similar scale brand to Quiet Golf which appeals to a more endemic golf audience, served as a prelude. The project yielded many of the staples which have earned Holderness & Bourne its own cult following, namely micro stripe polos with structured collars and understated quarter-zip pullovers.

FJ by Jon Buscemi 2024

Four years in and FJ by Jon Buscemi never fails to deliver. Even though the recipe remains largely the same (off-white leather upper with gold hardware accents), the luxury footwear designer always finds a way to switch things up just enough to keep things fresh. In 2023 this meant introducing a speckled midsole, and in 2024 a new layer was added in the form of a kelly green outsole. The latest edition of this collaboration also brought a new silhouette into the fold: the Field LX. It’s a derby-style shoe with a full-length mudguard which, in this case, was highlighted with patent leather.

Jimmy Choo x Malbon

While luxury fashion houses like Louis Vuitton and Gucci have experimented with golf to varying degrees of acceptance, Jimmy Choo went a different route and tapped Malbon for its expertise on the fairways and greens. The result was a range of products which leant more heavily into Jimmy Choo’s aesthetic, a rarity for a Malbon collaboration. The spikeless, co-branded golf shoes featured the signature Jimmy Choo diamond pattern across the midsoles while the golf bags flaunted the JC monogram in all-over fashion.

Kith for TaylorMade 2024

One of the highest energy collaborations from 2022 took a break in 2023 but in 2024 it returned bigger and better than ever. The unmistakable Kith creative language gave it an instant leg up, while the combined brand equity of Kith and TaylorMade allowed the two to land Jimmy Fallon as the campaign star. The limited edition clubs were even more impressive than the apparel this time around though. While typical sets of irons have a uniform look from pitching wedge through long irons, Kith and TaylorMade designed a set which transitions from chrome to black.

Happy Life Wood x Jordan

While Nike’s intentions in the golf space continue to be questioned, the Beaverton giants are still making inroads with Jordan's timely releases throughout the season. For the Masters, Jordan and Humphrey leaned into the brand’s knack for storytelling, lending an opportunity to an independent artist in the process. The naturalist appearance of the Air Jordan 9 Golf was inspired by Happy Life Wood’s unique method of working wood into lifelike objects.

Malbon x adidas The Crosby Collection

The Crosby Collection was one of two big collaborations between Malbon and adidas in 2024 and was a step up on past projects by any measure. And although collaborations with deceased notable figures can sometimes be hit or miss, the Crosby Collection seems like something that Bing Crosby could have actually worn. Our favorites were the white and yellow cardigan, the wingtipped MC87 shoes and the breezy women’s culotte pants.

Students x Realtree

Camo had a big year on the golf course in 2024, because even though the pattern goes in and out of contemporary fashion its roots as a functional outdoors garment guarantee there’s always a connection to golf. Teaming up with Realtree, the go-to for hunters and streetwear lovers alike, was a big deal for Students given its aspirations to be golf’s equivalent of Supreme. The collaboration encompassed pants, long sleeve t-shirts, polo shirts and shorts constructed of heavyweight cotton twill. There are even headcovers so you can match your fit to your clubs.

Maxfli by Metalwood

As a lifestyle brand inspired by the golf aesthetic of the 90s and 2000s, there are few better collaborators Metalwood could have lined up than Maxfli. Although the golf equipment company was founded in 1910, it really had its moment 20-30 years ago when amateur golfers embraced the supreme distance and friendly price point of the Revolution golf balls. This collaborative capsule aimed to tap into the heritage by repurposing ad campaigns as screenprinted graphics and even recreating the famous pinstriped hat that Michael Jordan wore once upon a time.

Metalwood x FootJoy Golf Sneaker

The faux snakeskin-clad Metalwood x FootJoy Premiere Series took all the fanfare in 2023 and this year's follow up iteration with a full-length intrecciato mudguard was a satisfactory sequel. But the Metalwood x FJ Golf Sneaker takes the spot on this list in part because it was so unexpected. Although the silhouette has stolen a few hearts in recent years, all-in-all it was never meant to be a heavy hitter in the FJ catalog. Nevertheless, the creative mind of Metalwood Cole Young identified potential for an ironic dad shoe spin and the final version was executed with nostalgic teal panels, a gently yellowed midsole and soft terry cloth lining.
