Man City fan dies at Man Utd match after medical emergency as club issue statement
Manchester City have confirmed that a supporter has died after a medical emergency at the Manchester derby yesterday. The fan sadly lost their life after an incident during the Premier League contest with Manchester United at the Etihad.
A club statement read: "Manchester City are aware of the tragic news that one of our supporters passed away following a medical incident at yesterday's match.
"The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time."
City have not confirmed the age or identity of the supporter, or explained the exact cause of their death. The match was not paused due to the medical incident.
Championship side Luton Town were among those to respond to City's post, writing: "We send our condolences to their family, friends and all at Manchester City at this time."

It was a very tough match but we believed until the end. We managed to score, we needed that win.

"They [the fans] need it. Just like us, but you can see the way they celebrate is special. But we need to continue. Our club needs to win these kinds of matches, I understand the happiness of our fans but we need to continue."
Reigning Premier League champions Man City have now lost eight of their last 11 games across all competitions, winning only one of them. It is an unusual barren streak with the absence of the injured Rodri having proven catastrophic.
Pep Guardiola conceded: "We gave away the two goals. ... It is what it is. What can I say? It's a tough season. We didn't play our best because some positions we are not our best.
"There's no defence. We didn't lose eight games in two seasons now we lose eight in a few days. We cannot talk about targets when we lose a lot of games, and most of the time these things have happened.
"We have to move on and try to find the solution and try to win games. We need results to lift our mood.
"When it happens getting worse and worse, the reality is like this. I'm the manager of these players and this club. I have to find a solution and so far I haven't found it. This is the truth."
