The much-anticipated Strike: The Ink Black Heart is set to hit the screens soon, marking the sixth season of the thrilling detective series featuring Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.

It's been a two-year hiatus since the fifth instalment, Troubled Blood, graced BBC One, captivating over eight million viewers throughout its run.

Now, the sixth novel in JK Rowling's Strike series has been adapted for the screen, with its premiere slated for the festive season.

Strike: The Ink Black Heart

Heading the cast of Strike: The Ink Black Heart is Tom Burke, reprising his role as the eponymous private detective.

Known for his performances in The Souvenir, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and War And Peace, Burke returns to solve another complex case.

Joining him is Holliday Grainger, celebrated for her roles in Animals, The Capture and Lady Chatterley's Lover, who plays Robin Ellacott, Strike's trusted colleague and partner in crime-solving.

Ruth Sheen from Unforgotten and It's A Sin reprises her role as Pat, Strike's office manager, alongside Jack Greenlees of Payback fame as Sam Barclay and Peaky Blinders' Natasha O'Keeffe as Charlotte.

Caitlin Innes Edwards, known for Hanna, will once again portray Ilsa, a lawyer and lifelong friend of Strike.

The sixth season also welcomes several new faces, all of whom have starred in popular shows recently.

These include Bodyguard's David Westhead, Emma Fielding from Sanditon, Christian McKay of Rivals, Tupele Dorgu from Ridley, and James Nelson-Joyce, known for Time and Industry.

How to watch Strike The Ink Black Heart

The premiere of Strike: The Ink Black Heart is set for Monday, December 16, at 9pm on BBC One.

The second episode will air the following day, Tuesday, December 17, at the same time. The final two instalments will follow suit the next week.

However, for those eager to binge-watch, all four episodes will be available as a box set on BBC iPlayer from December 16.
