Woman bailed after model panda goes missing

A woman has been bailed after she allegedly stole a sculpted model panda from a Kwun Tong public display on Thursday. Police said the 37-year-old was arrested in Sau Mau Ping on Saturday. She will have to report to police later this month. Police said they were called in after a security guard noticed that the model panda, valued at HK$100, had gone missing. The model was part of an Urban Renewal Authority (URA) Christmas Celebration at Yue Man Square called 'Winter Transform'. It includes 80 giant panda installations, which range in height from half-a-metre to 3 metres. Police also said another model panda had disappeared last Monday but that the case was not classified as theft. In announcing the display earlier this month, the URA said it features an industrial style panda and an astronaut panda - symbolising Kwun Tong's transformation from an industrial area to a modernised commercial centre. The URA said, after Christmas, the pandas would be displayed in festive Chinese New Year attire.
