It’s the mash up we didn’t know we needed, as a new series that combines Harry Potter and The Great British Bake Off launches this month. Streaming from December 17, Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking is said to blend ‘legendary storytelling’ and ‘fantastical edible creations’ in a never-before-seen competition.
The series is hosted by James and Oliver Phelps, best-known for playing the Weasley twins Fred and George in the Harry Potter films. They are joined by culinary judges Carla Hall and Jozef Youssef, with appearances from Potter stars Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood) and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), who will help in evaluating the competitors’ showpieces and also share their own Potter stories.
The first six episodes of Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking will be available to stream for free with an Amazon Prime subscription or by signing up for an Amazon Prime 30-day free trial on December 17, with the finale airing on December 20. Prime members can also stream new titles like Red One and The Rings of Power, plus the Premier League Boxing Day round of fixtures, absolutely free with a 30-day trial.

In each episode of Wizards of Baking, the culinary artists will design eye-popping creations not only to tantalise the taste buds, but that also offer surprising and enchanting, visual elements. The competition kicks off with a super-sized episode in which nine teams of pastry chefs and cake artists are tasked to craft massive, spellbinding edible showpieces inspired by moments and themes from the Harry Potter saga.

Studios Leavesden, including amidst the backdrop of the Harry Potter Studio Tour on some of the original film sets. Contestants will present their creations in iconic locations such as Platform 9¾, The Great Hall, Gringotts Wizarding Bank, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest.
On returning back to Hogwarts for the new series, James Phelps told Cinemablend: “[In 2000], our first day at Leavesden was in the Great Hall, when all the first-years walk in and look around, amazed. When the bakers go into the Great Hall for the first time, they’re literally doing that reaction. That was really fun.”

Oliver added that walking into The Great Hall once again felt like going ‘back in time’, saying: “In one way, it felt like you just jumped back in time.
